The marginal mountain is an intertwined area of urgent concern coupled with a variety of problems. Its marginalization is "development" showing a "lag" state and process in the specific spatial region and the period.Under different social environments, the man-land relationship in Chinese marginal mountainou areas shows different states, characteristics and response patterns. The paper breaks through the traditional closed and homogeneous environment, puts the man-land relationship in the open background of industrialized urbanization, and fully considers the particularity of the marginal mountainou areas.Based on the population, land use,socio-economic dynamic data, using the general method of deduction and induction, local vertical comprehensive analysis, scale correlation analysis,time-space coupling analysis, regional comparison analysis, theoretical construction and empirical test,by means of the mathematical statistics, geographic information system and scenario planning method. The paper analyzes the marginal characteristics of the marginal mountain areas firstly, then explores the land use structure and the ecological land response, and analyzes the structure and elements of man-land relationship. On the basis of these work, think about the historical process of man-land relationship and make rational planning for different scenarios in the future.Research conclusions :(1)Under the constraints of unfavorable location, rigid natural environment and fragile economic foundation, the marginal characteristics of the study area are significant and the degree of spatial marginalization is increasing;(2)The per capita net income of farmers is significantly related to the forestland area. The increase of non-agricultural income of peasants is vital importance to alleviate the pressure of man-land and the restoration of mountain ecological environment in the historical period;(3)Farmers' cost of ecological land conversion is higher and showing atendency of increasing, farmers' economic affordability and acceptability become the key factors of returning farmland to forest;(4)Population-land-income is intertwined to reflect the state and process of man-land relationship. The total amount of per capita net income of farmers in the study area is much less than developed areas. The internal structure reflects the lower urbanization, the industrialization level and the industrial level. The total population and the resident population scissors increase and the benefit of cultivated land is reduced. There is little potential for increased earnings in mountain agriculture, and people are more likely to increase their gross income by migrating or developing non-agricultural industries;(5)From the planned economic system of urban and rural division before the 1980 s to the urban economy under the background of urbanization, the human-land relationship in the marginal mountainous areas experienced the process of low land carrying capacity, large pressure on man and land, large area of forest land, deterioration of ecological environment,man-land relationship conflict,to support the increase, the pressure to slow down,a large increase in forest land area, ecological environment improvement, harmonious man-land relationship;(6)In the existing labor force composition, crop structure, land use mode, this potential is limited by increasing the land productivity to improve the income of farmers then improve the relationship between man and land, and its difficult to support the well-off living standards.Population spatial transfer is the main path method to achieve man-land coordination and ecological conservation in marginal mountain area.
