In petrochemical enterprises, production processes are always complex with various and widely distributed hidden accidents.Daily inspection and semi-automatic alarm cannot meet the production safety requirements. To enhance the ability of safety management and control, the application of advanced modeling and simulation technologies has become the focus of research in petrochemical industry.Previous studies mostly established simulation models for specific objects according to the production process. However,as a result of the weak reusability and poor scalability of previous models, the amount of scenarios are limited, and there are great difficulties in the maintenance and integration of simulation software. When the characteristics of production process and safety emergency are considered,a novel modeling and simulation method is proposed based on the object-oriented modeling design.A simulation system prototype is developed and implemented in real-world problems.Focusing on the production safety, this paper summarizes the modeling and simulation requirements, and the traditional modeling and simulation researches are briefly reviewed. To overcome the weak reusability and poor scalability in previous models,an object-oriented modeling approach for hybrid system in petrochemical industry is proposed, and the component models are established by extracting the device attributes and behaviors to realize the decoupling of simulation model and scenarios. Then, the design and implementation of simulation scenes are organized as three aspects, consisting of the simulation of normal production process, accident evolution and safety emergency.Furthermore, the integrated scheme is described in details based on the analysis of integrated functions, data information flow and user interface. In the end,the aforementioned methods are illustrated through a large-scale industrial case, where a series of simulation scenarios for the storage and transportation equipment of aromatic separation process in real world are constructed to verify the reusability and scalability of simulation model. Moreover, the effectiveness and completeness of simulation scenes are evaluated. Finally, the proposed models are extended and integrated for emergency drills, which has been implemented as a mature tool in the enterprises. The application result shows significant savings of resources and improvement in the efficiency, which can provide a reference for decision makers and researchers.
