Research On The Efficiency Of Urbanization In Yunnan Province Based On DEA-Malmquist Index

The important symbol of modernization is the process of urbanization.Building a well-off society is the grand goal of the Chinese government.The problem of urbanization must arouse the concern of the government.Urbanization is one of the core motivations of local economic and social development.The quality of urbanization development determines the sustainable development of regional economy and society to a great extent.The extension of the urbanization which is characterized by the increase of urban population,the increase of urban quantity,the expansion of urban scale and the extension of urban spatial extension is due to the extensive economic development pattern characterized by high input,high emission and high pollution.Extended model of urbanization development brings urban crowded population,urban traffic jam,environmental pollution and a series of urban development problems,extensive model of urbanization neglect the quality of urbanization development.Report of eighteenth national congress of the communist party of China clearly put forward that we should improve the quality of urbanization development.The premise and the basis of improving the quality of urbanization development is to improve the efficiency of urbanization.Therefore,the study of urbanization efficiency in Yunnan Province in theory and reality have great value.Based on the data envelopment analysis method DEA model and Malmquist index,this paper takes advantage of the urbanization input and output data of 16 cities in Yunnan from 2007 to 2014 to analyze the urbanization efficiency of Yunnan Province.Based on the combination of DEA static efficiency evaluation and Malmquist dynamic efficiency evaluation,the lateral change trend and vertical change trend of urbanization efficiency of 16 cities in Yunnan Province were obtained,and the reasons of efficiency difference in different cities were analyzed.The results show that the technological efficiency gap of urbanization in 16 cities in Yunnan Province is large from the DEA model,and the core reason is the difference in the pure technical efficiency.The technical efficiency of each state shows similar trend with the pure technological efficiency.The scale efficiency is basically maintained at 0.95 or more and the scale efficiency close to the optimal value.The main ways to improve the technical efficiency of urbanization in the 16 cities of Yunnan Province is to improve the efficiency of pure technology.The space of scale efficiency is relatively limited.The input-output projection analysis table shows that the non-DEA of technical efficiency of urbanization in 16 cities of Yunnan Province in 2014 is due to the combination of input redundancy and output deficiency.From the Malmquist index,the total factor productivity index of 16 states in Yunnan Province is quite different,and the difference is mainly due to the large gap in technological progress index.The state's technological progress index shows a similar trend with the total factor productivity index,and the technical efficiency index is basically stable at around 1.00.The main reason for the increase of total factor productivity in Yunnan Province in 2007-2014 is the technological progress index.On the basis of the findings,the paper comes up with some suggestions to improve the urbanization efficiency of Yunnan Province.
