Given the high speed of product replacement and upgrade in enterprises engaging in Internet technologies,R&D staffs in Internet technology enterprises are experiencing a variety of burdens like long-time work,excessive work stress,and heavy mental workloads,etc.,or even the incidents of “death from overworking”,which frequently emerge in the headlines.Therefore,conducting measurement on mental workloads of R&D staffs in Internet technology enterprises,and studying their variation patterns and influencing factors,will provide important practical significance in lowering the level of mental workloads for these people and ensuring their physical and mental health,as well as in ensuring healthy,stable and sustainable development of the Internet economy.This paper firstly designs questionnaires employing two subjective workload assessment techniques which are widely used both in China and abroad,the NASA-TLX and SWAT,to conduct a survey on R&D staffs in an Internet technology enterprise based in Hangzhou City,which includes procedures of questionnaire distribution,collection,data statistics and analysis;results show that compared to NASA-TLX,SWAT has relatively better reliability and validity.Secondly,using SWAT as an initial scale,the paper revises the SWAT scale into a C-SWAT scale based on the characteristics of work for R&D staff in Internet technology enterprises,and conducts questionnaire design,test implement,data analysis for the C-SWAT scale,followed by a reliability and validity test;the final results indicate that the revised C-SWAT has better reliability and validity,making it more effectively reflect the status of mental workloads for R&D staff in Internet technology enterprises.Thirdly,This paper conducts an analysis on the distribution characteristics,variation patterns and influencing factors of mental workloads for R&D staff in Internet technology enterprises;results present a normal distribution pattern in mental workloads of R&D personnel in Internet technology enterprises;age,length of service,educational level are positively related to mental workloads,of which age presents the most significant effect on mental workloads of R&D staff in Internet technology enterprises.Finally,six measures are put forward in this paper to reduce the mental load of R&D staff in internet technology enterprise,and implements these six measures in an internet enterprise,after six months the R&D staff mental load is evaluated and the results show that the average mental load of the staffs in this enterprise has been reduced about 10%.
