Study On Factors Affecting Facility Vegetable Growers' Behaviour In Pesticide Application In Shouguang City, Shandong Province

As one of the most important inputs in the production of vegetables,Pesticides play an important role in the elimination of pests and bacteria,controlling of the amount of grass,protecting of arable land,regulating the growth of vegetables,and protect the healthy growth of vegetables and other agricultural products.However,there is much unreasonable and excessive use of pesticides,which is a serious threat to human health and the ecological environment.Farmers are the main part of pesticide application,so the rational use and the reduction of pesticides must be settled down to the micro level to improve farmers' awareness of pesticides and regulate the behavior of farmers thereby providing a healthy and safe environment for consumers.Through descriptive analysis,we found that the most of the facility vegetable growers are junior high school education,and the illiteracy rate is very low while it is lack of the high degree;farmers have rich experience of planting facility vegetables and the deep-rooted traditional habit at the same time,and their willingness to reduce pesticide application is low;the income of farmers mainly rely on farming,which almost all farmers choose planting facility vegetables to make a living;farmers choose different period for different varieties of vegetables,in contrast,interval of pesticide application in harvest time fluctuates than that before harvest time;farmers who has different levels of education has different behavior of pesticide application;the behavior of farmers under different cognitive levels of pesticide residues are also different;farmers pay different attention to the knowledge and technology of pesticides,and different needs will produce different choice of the behavior of pesticide application.Based on the investigation data of 363 households in Shouguang City of Shandong Province,this paper which is using the empirical method makes an econometric analysis on the influencing factors of pesticide application behavior of farmers who plants facilities vegetables.Research shows that farmers' behavior of reading the operating instruction of pesticide is influenced by various factors in the process of facilities vegetable production,,such as the sex of the grower,the input of pesticide in facility vegetable planting,farmers' perception of pesticide residues,farmers' demand for pesticide technology and knowledge,and farmers' awareness of non pollution,green and organic vegetables.When the sprayer is male,there is the more willingness to reduce the potential risk by reading operating instructions;the more farmers inputs in the pesticide,the more willingness to reduce the risk by reading operating instructions;the more attention to the technology and knowledge,the more understanding of pesticide residues,the more awareness of pollution-free,green,organic vegetables,the willingness of farmers to read operating instruction before pesticide application will be more intense.In the process of facility vegetable planting,the farmers taking the safety interval of pesticide pollution into account or not is also affected by many factors.The cognition of pesticide residues on human health is stronger,and it will take measures to reduce pesticide residues;the use of green prevention is an alternative to conventional pesticides,and the more farmers use it,the lower the use of pesticides;the greater the frequency of safety detection,the lower the possibility of farmers to consider safety interval of pesticide pollution;the attention of knowledge and technology on pesticide and the training of safe pesticide application will both increase the ability of safe pesticide use and farmers' behavior of pesticide application will be more standardized;the management of pesticide application by the organization or institution has a certain effect on the behavior of pesticide application,and it is more likely to take the safety interval of pesticide pollution into account.Accordingly,the author puts forward the corresponding countermeasures of reducing pesticide in vegetable planting of Shouguang city.First of all,specialized and uniform pest specialized unified prevent service,combined the technology of green prevention and control,is beneficial to ensuring the quality and safety of vegetables and the development of biodiversity.Secondly,there needs to pay equal attention to raise farmers' awareness of using pesticides in security and ability to use pesticides scientifically,which is good for fundamentally promoting the stable development of local vegetable production.Thirdly,it is essential to coordinate government regulation and information sharing to regulate the trading behavior of the agricultural capital goods market and farm produce mart.Finally,taking into account the agricultural insurance and agricultural subsidies at the same time is conducive to establish a moderately advanced,open and flexible policy of the security system.
