Spatial Distribution And Efficiency Analysis Of Commercial Banks In China

With the rapid development of interest rate liberalization and the rapid development of Internet finance,the competition pressure of commercial banks in China is intensified.How to deal with the increasingly fierce competition in banking industry is a serious problem of commercial banks.As a service enterprise,the branches of commercial banks are the most direct and basic unit of profit.The scale of the commercial bank in our country is huge,and it has the absolute advantage in quantity.It is one of the key problems that how to turn this kind of advantage into competitive advantage.Therefore,the rationality of the commercial bank’s own network layout becomes the key to improve its competitive advantage.In this paper,we focus on the layout of the joint-stock banks and the situation of efficiency changes,and make an evaluation of the layout of the joint-stock banks.Based on Huaxia Bank,Minsheng Bank,Ping An Bank,Industrial Bank and China Merchants Bank,this paper studies the dynamic change of the layout of the joint-stock bank and the efficiency of the network layout.First of all,based on the scale of assets,the number of outlets and employees to measure the changes in the layout of China’s joint-stock banks,it is found that China’s joint-stock banks are increasing year by year,and the increasing trend is still continued;Secondly,the asset size is used as the main index,and the Theil index is used to measure the equilibrium degree of the distribution of China’s joint-stock banks.From the calculation results,the Theil index of China’s joint-stock banks has a "U-shaped" trend,that is,the distribution of the network was the first diffusion and re-aggregation trend.Finally,using the DEA-Malmquist index method to measure the efficiency of the joint-stock bank.Through the analysis,the total factor productivity of the overall level of China’s joint-stock banks showed a slightly increasing trend,the level of total factor productivity of branches is slightly decreased,the overall commercial bank network layout is reasonable,but the promotion space is still large.Based on the analysis results of Theil index and DEA-Malmquist index,this paper puts forward the corresponding policy suggestions from the aspects of optimizing the layout of the network space and improving the network layout efficiency.
