With increasingly development of market economy today, an enterprise can stand in an invincible position only by strengthening its management and highlighting its competitive advantages, and among-st others, talent is the crucial factor. The same is true to state-owned shipping companies. If they want to win market competition, each of them must first have a team of high-quality operation and management talents. An attractive compensation management system is not only the key to attracting talents,retaining talents and motivating talents, but also the important means to enhance the core competitiveness of an enterprise and advance its development and growth.This article, taking W Shipping Company as its study object and through investigation and study on its compensation system, analyzes the problems existing in its compensation system, puts forward some ideas about the design of its compensation system through combining theory with practice, carries out the value evaluation on all positions within W Shipping Company by applying the evaluation model which is customized specially for VW Shipping Company, and on the basis of evaluation results,establishes post and rank matrix, and considering the overall compensation level in shipping industry and the actual situation of W Shipping Company, establishes compensation levels for all post rankings. Then, this article designs the compensation structure, creates post compensation system tables and justifies the compensation differences between posts and ranks, which are all documented for official implementation, so as to enhance both internal equity and external competitiveness of compensation management of W Shipping Company and help W Shipping Company achieve its strategic objectives.This article also collects opinions and suggestions from management and employees of W Shipping Company during the implementation of new compensation system, analyzes its advantages and disadvantages, and at the end of this article,summarizes the shortcomings of this compensation design study and proposes the prospect for future study, to provide the reference for later work and study.The author hopes that the study in this article can help W Shipping Company improve its compensation management, and at the same time provide other domestic shipping companies with certain reference for their compensation system design and management.
