Status Quo And Countermeasures For Herbivorous Husbandry Development Of Liangzhou District

Herbivorous husbandry can produce a lot of animal products through feeding grass-fed livestock with forages and fodders etc.With economic development,people's daily life has been promoted continuously and their food structure has also been changed profoundly.There's been a growing demand for beef,mutton and dairy products which have rich protein and abundant nutrients but low cholesterol.Considering the long-term strategy of energy supply and human demands,the development of herbivorous husbandry would be one of the major ways to obtain animal-sourced proteins.This study took Liangzhou district of Gansu as a typical case,and investigated the status of herbivorous husbandry in this district,finding out the achievements and problems in the development of herbivorous husbandry in this region.Some suggestions and advices were purposefully proposed for further development in the future.In recent years,relying on superior natural conditions in Liangzhou district,there has been preliminarily strong policy support,industrial basis and human resource potential for the development of herbivorous husbandry.The development of herbivorous husbandry in this region has wholly shown a good tendency and marked effects.1)The production of herbivorous husbandry with cattle and sheep continuously increased;2)The outcome and benefit of herbivorous husbandry has been remarkably promoted;3)The agricultural technology services have begun to take shape and there was significant effects of breed improvement;4)Large-scale facilities were improved greatly;5)The animal husbandry structure has been adjusted continuously and an initial cluster of livestock industry was well constructed;and 6)Forage supplying system was obviously strengthened.However,there were still difficulties and problems during the development of herbivorous husbandry in Liangzhou district,which includes: 1)there was still lack of finely processing capacity of animal product,2)safety system of livestock products was not complete,and 3)there were urgent needs for the talents working with animal husbandry.Considering the existing problems in the development of herbivorous husbandry and the actual conditions in this region,we purposefully proposed some countermeasures and suggestions to help further promoting the development.These measures were listed below: 1)To establish sustainable patterns to promote the development,2)To establish production systems with safe andhigh quality livestock products,3)To strengthen the construction of talented teams and associated services,and 4)To build and accelerate the technique extension.This study will be helpful for further understanding the situation and problems of herbivorous husbandry in Liangzhou district.It is expected to provide references for the in-depth and overall development of herbivorous husbandry in this region through proposing purposeful suggestions.
