In modern economy, organizations can successfully exist and develop provided that their products have competitive advantages in the market.Technology Management(TM)and New Product Development Performance(NPDP)both play a key role in obtaining firms' competitive advantage.Based on literature review,we can state that TM and NPDP are connected by knowledge.Knowledge resources(KR)are considered as crucial factors of NPD success. In this paper,we examine the effect of Knowledge Resources(KR)on New Product Development Performance(NPDP)in three stages,as well as the moderating role of Technology Management(TM)on the relationship between KR and NPDP in three stages empirically. We propose that these variables are significantly and positively related to each other.Specifically,TM can promote NPDP more greatly with higher levels of knowledge resources. The empirical basis of the paper is a survey conducted on a sample of 55 Russian manufacturing companies. The results show that KR has a significantly positive relationship with NPDP stages: Tacit Knowledge(TK)exert greater impacts on NPD performance in the concept development performance(CDP),in product development performance(PDP),and product commercialization performance(PCP);Explicit Knowledge(EK)exert greater impacts on CDP,PDP,PCP as well. The results also prove the TM moderating effect on the relationship between KR and NPDP.The findings of this research expand Russian managers' understanding of the mechanism of TM and KR affecting NPD and make focus on how to manage technologies more efficiently.
