Study On The Export Trade Potential Of The Yangtze River Economic Zone To South Asia

To insure the success of trade and build a China-axised community of interest and fate,is the inner meaning of the One Belt and One Road strategy.The Yangtze River Economic Zone and South Asia,the former is an important economic region of China,and the latter is located at the junction of The Belt and The Road,so the study of this paper is of great significance to China's economic development.Firstly,this paper analyzes the regional economy scale and industrial structure of Yangtze River Economic Zone,the total scale of import and export trade in South Asia and the trade scale different commodities,the relationship between the Yangtze River Economic Zone and South Asia,and the current situation of these two economic corridor.The analysis shows that the export trade of the Yangtze River Economic Zone to South Asia is mainly dominated by labor-intensive goods,also,the trade of goods is too concentrated that 80% of the export volume concentrated in the fourth kinds of goods,meanwhile the impact of economic corridors on trade has increased since 2013.Afterwards,based on the traditional trade gravity model having done the empirical analysis on the export trade of the Yangtze River Economic Zone to South Asia,I calculated the gross export trade of Yangtze River Economic Zone to the seven countries in South Asia from 2002 to 2014 as well as potential value of the main three kinds of goods,and finally the types of trade potential are analyzed.The results show that,whether from the point of view of general trade or the three main commodities,the trade potential of India,Pakistan and Bangladesh are all trade development or big-trade model.Among them,India's potential for chemical products(category sixth)is the greatest,the potential of Bangladesh for textile products(category eleventh)is the greatest and Pakistan's demand for electrical goods(category sixteenth)is the biggest.Aiming at the above trade situation and the trade gravity model calculation results,this paper gives the following policy recommendations: We need to promote the construction of two economic corridors and radiate to other countries in South Asia.India is the largest economy entity in South Asia so we should attach importance to trade with India.Traffic problem is an important factor that restricts the Yangtze River Economic Zone trading with South Asia,so we should boost the development of traffic between South Asia and the Yangtze River Economic Zone.At the same time,we should pay attention to scientific and technological innovation,further strengthening the comparative advantage of sixteenth goods.We should also support the textile industry to parallel with the chemical industry and improve the structure of bilateral trade,strengthening the development of capital and technology-intensive industry,and finally building the export trade of the Yangtze River Economic Zone more comprehensive.
