Today,Chinese enterprises are accelerating the pace of going global, which is a wise decision to follow the trend of economic globalization. In order to make the expatriates adapt to the local environment better and faster, some scholars have turned their attention to the study of the relationship between cultural intelligence(CQ)and cross-cultural adjustment. However, there is few researches focus on the cross-cultural adjustment of expatriates in China, and the research of these two variables is relatively simple. Therefore,it is important and necessary to further explore the impact of CQ on cross-cultural adjustment of Chinese multinational corporations.Based on the theory of cultural difference and anxiety/uncertainty management and the literature review, this paper studies the influence of CQ,cross-cultural sensitivity and information support on cross-cultural adjustment. After setting the theoretical model and putting forward the hypothesis, this paper distributed online survey to expatriates of some Chinese multinational enterprises.Next,it uses hierarchical regression model to analyze the data from questionnaires;thereby, testing the theoretical assumptions of the study. Then, this study put forward management recommendations. The final part is the conclusion that includes innovation and shortcomings of this research, which provides the direction for the future study. The results of hierarchical regression analysis found that(a)Motivation CQ is the only factor that is related to the three dimensions of cross-cultural adjustment. However, cognitive CQ and cross-cultural adjustment is not directly related.(b)Meta-cognition CQ,motivation CQ and behavioral CQ are significantly positively correlated with cross-cultural sensitivity.(c)In addition, intercultural sensitivity was strongly associated with cross-cultural adjustment.(d)For the mediation effect, some dimensions of CQ affected cross-cultural adjustment through intercultural sensitivity.(e)Furthermore,it was found that information support positively moderated the relationship between meta-cognitive CQ and interaction adjustment. The results from this research provide an enriched understanding of CQ and cross-cultural adjustment. In application, the results offer theoretical guidance for Chinese corporations consummating the mechanism of expatriate selection and cross-cultural training, and may improve the cross-cultural adaptability of expatriates, thereby reducing the failure rate of expatriation.
