Under the tide of"one belt and one road,more and more skilled engineers in China have gone abroad to continue their construction work in foreign circumstance.A large number of data show that the challenges faced by expatriates are not only engineering problems,but also a series of cross-cultural adaptation problems.Under the stress of job stress and cross-cultural adaptation,engineers either choose to accept the failure of expatriate work and return home early,or quite the job after returning home,the rate is more than 55%(???,???,2016).Brain drain far exceeds the average level of domestic projects.International construction projects are not completely sealed construction environment,engineers need to keep in touch with local citizens in construction field.If there are any obstacles of cross-cultural adaptation,the daily work of engineers will be interfered in varying degrees.Under the circumstance,the cross-cultural adaptation study of Chinese expatriates for international projects is an important and non-negligible link in the completion of overseas projects.We choose expatriate intention and cultural intelligence as the breakthrough point to construct a cross-cultural adaptation-centered relationship research model.Then the three scales were combined into questionnaires to find out how the expatriates' cross-cultural adaptation is interfered by these factors.The research results has shown that: foreign language proficiency and professional title can significantly influence expatriate willingness,among them,those with good foreign language proficiency and high professional titles is significantly higher;expatriate years and foreign language proficiency can significantly affect cultural intelligence,among them,the expatriate years of expatriate between 3 to 5 years and those with good foreign language proficiency is significantly higher;expatriate years can significantly affect cross-cultural adaptation,among them,the expatriate years of expatriate between 1 to 2 years is significantly higher.Expatriate willingness has a significant positive impact on cross-cultural adaptation.Metacognitive intelligence,cognitive cultural intelligence,Dynamic cultural intelligence and behavioral cultural intelligence play a positive moderating role in the influence from expatriate intention to cross-cultural adaptation.This study focuses on a new occupational group: expatriates.Initiative haveexpatriate willingness and cultural intelligence as the breakthrough point in the study of cross-cultural adaptation of international engineering expatriates.At the end of the paper,we based on the results of data analysis,put forward the corresponding countermeasures and concrete measures.To enhance the cross-cultural adaptation of this group,we should all take a part of duty.
