Integrated Project Delivery(IPD)has emerged to overcome the disadvantages in traditional delivery patterns and has been applied widely around European and American area for its idea of cooperation from beginning to end.While the quality of collaboration relationship among parties in IPD projects determines the project performance and whether the pattern of IPD and the idea of cooperation are practiced successfully.This thesis firstly proposed the revolution model of collaboration relationship quality among owner,contractor and designer along different project phrases and found that the collaboration relationship quality is decreasing.Then this thesis investigated and clarified the impact of contract solidarity on collaboration relationship among parties in IPD,with reciprocity and commitment in social relationship as mediating variables.The conceptual framework and item scales were based on literature review and interviews with experts.Data was from practitioners and researchers in Chinese construction industry with questionnaires.The results showed that contract solidarity,commitment and reciprocity all have positive impact on collaboration relationship among parties in IPD.Besides,reciprocity partially mediates the impacting process of contract solidarity on collaboration relationship as expected while commitment does not have mediating effects.Contract solidarity was extended and applied to investigate collaboration relationship in IPD.Specific measures can be taken for managing and improving the collaboration relationships among parties in IPD with the norm of contract solidarity,commitment and reciprocity,according to the path coefficients of different terms in every construct.
