High-quality crew and abundant talent pool will be one of the most important strategic resources of shipping enterprises.The development of officers is attracting more and more attention.In the past,the comprehensive evaluation of the crew is limited to the study of the individual crew's competence and job characteristic.It is lack of overall study on the competence of the senior crew.In addition,the past scholars is from the perspective of qualitative analysis of the development of the proposed senior officers,few empirical analysis of the support.Thus,based on the combination of theory and practice,this paper explores the methods of competence evaluation for the senior officers and provides useful reference for the future development and training of the senior crews.Based on the competency evaluation,this paper starts from the following three aspects:First,study senior crews of A company about their number,age,qualifications,professional and utilization analysis.It helps to establish indicators and recommendations.Second,according to the work experience and competency theory,the evaluation model of the competence of senior officers is constructed.It includes four indicators,professional knowledge and skills,psychological quality,personal characteristics,communication and decision-making.There are 23 three-level indicators.Then the improved AHP is used to determine the weight.Thirdly,the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to evaluate the competency of the senior officers.It helps to know the level of competence of the senior officers of Company A,and to provide feasible suggestions for the development of the senior crews of Company A.The study shows that the professional knowledge and skills are the most important secondary indicators;Senior crew of A company in the physical quality,academic level,safety awareness,sense of responsibility,education and training,active learning scores higher.However,the work of theoretical knowledge is not strong.The senior crew of company A are lack of creativity and flexibility,domestic and international environmental change to judge and adapt to the positive attitude.
