As the central city of “Rise of Central China”,Wuhan has maintained the rapid growth in social economy. The scale and number of industries having ketp expand, attractes a large number of people. However, water resources as a necessary source of production and living information are very limited. Therefore, the relationship between the utilization of water resources and economic growth should be studied so that Wuhan can maintain its high-speed economic development under limited water resources conditions. This is an important issue that Wuhan must attach importance to at this stage.Coupling-coordination estimation model was established to measure the degree of coupling and coordination of water resources utilization and socio-economic growth in Wuhan through the three subsystems of population, economy, and water resources. The calculation results show that from 2007 to 2016,the degree of coupling and coordination between water resources utilization and socio-economic growth in Wuhan is gradually increasing. The population, economy, and water resources development levels tend to be consistent. Then build VAR model of Wuhan's water resources and socio-economic growth.Analyze the dynamic relationship between population, economy, and water use from two levels of the city and thrice Industrial.Research shows that: the steady increase of population does not increase the use of water, but Economic growth leads to increased water use;increased water consumption can drive population growth and facilitate economic development.Based on the results of coupled-coordinated estimation model and the VAR model analysis the relationship between water resources and economic development in Wuhan City. And the results are used to guide the future implementation planning of water resources utilization and economic development strategy in Wuhan City.
