Study On The Assistance And Evaluation Pattern Of Interdisciplinary Project Supported By NSFC

Interdisciplinary research means the innovation research that integrates two or more than two subjects and methods.With the development of science and technology,single discipline is difficult to deal with complex problems.As a result,the interaction,fusion and mutual infiltration between disciplines become inevitable,interdisciplinary research emerged naturally.Since the 1960 s,interdisciplinary research has become more and more popular in the international academia,all kinds of interdisciplinary research institutions,research centers and academic groups have set up.The origin of interdisciplinary research in China can be traced back to the 1980 s.Till now,the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC)takes different efforts to increase funding scope for interdisciplinary research.Based on the basic longitudinal founding pattern which takes disciplines set as the main line,through the implementation of the major research plan and jointly funded work,horizontally integrating of related disciplines and areas,using the guiding role of comprehensive cross priority areas,initially formed a “horizontal and longitudinal” interweaved interdisciplinary research funding system.Through the analysis of properties,connotation and characteristics of disciplinary research,this paper introduces the interdisciplinary evaluation methods and funding models used by the major foreign funding organizations,analyzes the current situation and existing problems faced by NSFC for interdisciplinary evaluation methods and funding models.Based on the above,by utilizing the experience of foreign funding organizations,countermeasures are proposed to NSFC in order to further consummate interdisciplinary research funding system: Improve funding patterns,establish new evaluation system.
