Resource-based cities are the types of cities which taking the mining, forests and other natural resources mining, processing as the leading industry,it has large number and obvious characteristics.According to the different stages of development,resource-based cities can be divided into many types.Among them, the growing resource-based cities in the early stages of urban development have the abundant resources and good conditions for development. The development of resource-based cities will project to the spatial structure and have a significant impact.Among the many factors, mineral development is the most important and even decisive factor. In recent years, the situation of mineral development industry changes with the fluctuation of energy market, which has a great impact on the spatial structure of resourcebased cities.Studying on the mechanism of mineral development of the urban spatial structure, especially the growing resource-based cities, can help to maintain a stable and orderly development of the city, and avoiding falling into "mine depletion" disadvantage. This article uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, sorting out five characteristics and five categories of spatial structure about resource-based cities, life cycle rules of structure evolution,as well as the mechanism of the impact of natural environment, transportation network, industrial economy, urban planning and resource exploitation on the spatial structure. After that, analyzing the impact of mineral development on the spatial structure from the aspects of economy, society, land use and transportation, then selects 16 index factors that characterize the spatial structure and the index factors that characterize mineral development(Mining industry employed population),constructing a gray relational model.Using the model to evaluate 20 resource-based cities, according to the evaluation results define the range of relevance interval, then put forward corresponding development strategies for cities in different degrees of relevance.Later, basing on the theory of the carding and quantitative modeling, this paper take a case study of Hami,a Growth Resource City in Xinjiang, quantitative analysis the relationship of mineral development and spatial structure and qualitative description the role of mineral development in all aspects of the spatial structure.Concluding the conflicts between mineral development and spatial structure in Hami, the conflicts are mainly reflected in the curse effect of resources, the role of space polarization is not strong, the impact of mining development on the road network, mining resources are not fully utilized.According to existing contradictions, this paper put forward the coordinated development strategy in the fifth chapter, for example,Controlling urban development boundaries and develop intensive space;Coordination of land use types, ease the city mining functions;Breaking administrative restrictions and create a space for growth;Improving the road system, smooth urban traffic cycle;Optimizing urban system in urban areas and make full use of mineral resources, and so on.Through the discussion of this article,it expects to enrich the research results about spatial structure of resource-based cities, and providing an entry point for early intervention in the urban research under the growing period. At the same time,it can also provide a good reference for Hami and other cities to maintain a reasonable and orderly development of space.
