The rapid urban development in big cities leads to urban spread, residential suburbanization, traffic congestion and other problems, accompanied by new town development and urban renewal. It also pricked up the long-term commute tirp and the phenomenon of job-house separation with the quality of urban residents' daily life decreased. However, the research focused on the residents' travel mode choice mechanism was less involved compared with the residents' travel behavior characteristics. On this basis, this paper picked four typical area of Wuhan City and studies the spatiotemporal characteristics of resident trip and the impact factors of travel mode choice from micro-perspective.The research datas and related information are collected through field investigation, electronic questionnaires and 24-hour activity logs. Then by using SPSS 20 software to filter and sort the sample data, this paper analyzes spatio-temporal characteristics of resident trip and establishes a series of multiple logistic regression model of impact factor of travel mode choice.Secondly, individual property characteristics of samples and regional characteristics are came up with after analysing by SPSS 20.0 software. Then,it proposes general travel characteristics of four typical areas with spatio-temporal characteristics of commuting trip and non-commuting trip.Finallly,a series of semultiple logistic regression analysis is established to help pick up significant elements, and explore the mechanism between them and travel mode choice. The conclution suggests that residents travel mode choice is both affected by individual properties and regional properties. And the effects and mechanism of different trip types were significantly different.
