Research On The Impact Of Infrastructure On Firm Technological Innovation Capability

Since the reform and opening up,especially since the 1990 s,infrastructure has played a significant role in promoting China's economic growth.The rapid development of transportation,energy and information infrastructure,it provides a solid material basis for the development of regions and enterprises,the development of education and medical infrastructure improves the living standards of the people,it is conducive to the accumulation of regional human capital.Technological innovation has become an important driving force in the economic development of our country,and enterprises are the main body of technological innovation,in which industrial enterprises above the scale occupy the main position in the industrial economy.Therefore,researching the influence of infrastructure on technological innovation capabilities of industrial enterprises above designated size has certain practical significance.This paper combeds the overseas and domestic research on infrastructure and economic growth,enterprise productivity and technological innovation,guided by the theory of public goods,the two-stage theory of technological innovation and the theory of technological innovation.The panel data of 30 provinces and autonomous regions from 2008 to 2015,were selected to analyze the current situation of infrastructure and enterprise technological innovation ability in the eastern,central and western regions of China,and the quantile regression model was used,it examines the effects of different infrastructure on the technological innovation ability of enterprises in China's national level and in the eastern,central and western regions,and makes an analysis based on the regression results.The results of this study are as follows: from the national level,transportation infrastructure,information infrastructure and education infrastructure have a significant positive effect on the technological innovation ability of enterprises;the energy infrastructure has a significant positive effect on the technological innovation ability of the enterprises with low technology level,while it has a negative effect on the technological innovation ability of the enterprises with higher technology level;medical infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises with higher technological level.From the view of the eastern region,the educational infrastructure has a positive role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises;the transportation infrastructure can promote the technological innovation ability of the enterprises with fewer new product development projects,and it can also promote the increase of the new product sales income;energy infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises with fewer new product development projects or middle level of new product sales income;the information infrastructure plays a significant positive role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises;medical infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises.From the view of the central region,the transportation infrastructure has a significant positive role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises;and the energy infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the technological innovation ability of the enterprises with high sales income of new products;the information infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the technological innovation capability of enterprises;the educational infrastructure plays a significant role in promoting the enterprises with higher technological innovation capability;in the stage of technology research and development,medical infrastructure will have a significant positive impact on the technological innovation ability of enterprises,in the stage of product commercialization,medical infrastructure can significantly promote the increase of sales income of new products.From the view of the western region,the transportation infrastructure has a positive role in promoting the technological innovation ability of industrial enterprises above the scale;in the stage of commercialization of products,the energy infrastructure in the western region will have a significant positive impact on the enterprises with strong technological innovation ability;the information infrastructure can significantly promote the technological innovation ability of the enterprises;the educational infrastructure has a significant role in promoting the technological innovation ability of enterprises with more patent applications,while promoting the enterprises with strong technological innovation ability;medical infrastructure has a significant positive impact on enterprises with strong technological innovation ability.Based on the analysis of infrastructure and technological innovation capability of enterprises,relevant policy suggestions are proposed.
