With the rapid development of market economy,dynamic economic environment and fleeting market opportunities require enterprises to make decisions quickly to meet challenges and seize opportunities.To cope with the complex and changeable market environment,more and more enterprises choose senior management teams to make strategic decisions together.on the one hand,they can concentrate people's wisdom,on the other hand,they can make use of the external social capital of senior management teams,namely senior management can acquire many resources and benefits of social relations by embedding social relations networks.As a new type of leadership,transformational leadership has cross-border behaviors,such as analyzing the environment,interacting with external entities,collecting information,have an insight into opportunities and choosing the right strategy.Transactional leaders pay attention to the exchange of resources among employees.on the one hand,this kind of leaders give employees the help and requirements they need,at the same time,they also expect to get the returns that enterprises need from employees.Since the three concepts came into being,there have been many studies around these three concepts,but few studies for the transformational leadership with external social capital of senior management team or transactional leadership with external social capital of senior management team.Since the external social capital of the senior management team plays an important role in the development of enterprises,and transformational and transactional leaders will have an impact on the team,will transformational and transactional leaders have an impact on the external social capital of the senior management team?To solve the above problems,136 leaders and senior management team members from two industrial parks in southwest China were selected as the research object.In this paper,literature analysis and empirical analysis were adopted,and using Mplus 7.0 and Spss 20.0 were uesd for specific analysis.The specific research steps are as follows: Firstly,the relationship between transformational and transactional leaders and social capital of senior management team is deduced through reviewing and sorting out the literature.On this basis,five research hypotheses were proposed and the theoretical model of research is established.Then according to the theoretical model,Bass scale is used to measure transformational leadership and transactional leadership,Peng scale is used to measure the external social capital of senior management team.Based on the date we collected,an empirical study was carried out to verify the five previous research hypotheses.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn: first,the personalized care dimension of transformational leadership has a positive influence on the external social capital of senior management team;Secondly,the idealized influence dimension of transformational leadership has a positive influence on the external social capital of senior management team.Thirdly,the motivational dimension of transformational leadership has a positive influence on the external social capital of senior management team.Fourthly,the intellectual stimulation dimension of transformational leadership has a positive influence on the external social capital of senior management team.Fifthly,transactional leadership has no significant influence on the external social capital of senior management team.The research in this paper enriches the research of transformational leadership theory and transactional leadership theory and the external social capital theory of senior management team,and expands the research field of management.More importantly,it makes the managers of the organization know more clearly which behaviors of transformational leaders can improve the external social capital of top management team.
