Experimental Study On Combustion Characteristics Of Cotton

Cotton is an important cash crop and it plays an indispensable role in national production and life.In recent years,with the rapid development of cotton planting and the increasing demand of the cotton market,the safety and protection of cotton in the process of storage has become an extremely important and practical work.According to statistics,nearly years in China,almost every year,major cotton storehouse fires have occurred,threatening the people's life safety and causing inestimable economic losses.According to the combustion characteristics of cotton,the main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The conditions of cotton smoldering.In the process of storage,cotton may not only be smoldering in the case of the smoldering of the external fire source,but also in the high temperature and humid environment,because of its own chemical reaction release heat to cause internal spontaneous combustion.For this reason,the different conditions of smoldering were studied in this paper,and the temperature and humidity environment of cotton stored for cotton spontaneous combustion were obtained.(2)The influence factors of cotton smoldering.We selected cotton bags from cotton storage storehouse in Shandong and Hebei province as the experimental samples.In order to explore the effects of different factors(moisture content,wind condition,density and different ignition sources)on the cotton smoldering,we have selected both the standard cotton bags in the warehouse and the corresponding samples of various cotton bags.(3)According to the stacking characteristics of cotton storage warehouse,we select a certain number of cotton bags to test the heat release rate of cotton bags.In the experiment,the cotton bag was superimposed in order of the "well" pattern in the cotton storehouse,and the heat release rate of the cotton bag was calculated by the multichannel parallel calorimetric system,and the heat release rate of the cotton bag during the violent flame burning was obtained.(4)According to the existing different packing methods of cotton(steel wire bandage,plastic steel bandage),the conditions of the collapse of the cotton bag and the characteristics of the cotton bavings under different dressing methods are explored.There will not be the phenomenon of friction and fire in the transportation of the plastic steel with the bandage of the plastic steel.But when the fire occurs,the caving range of the coated cotton bag is wide and the area of the fire is large.In this paper,we studied the combustion conditions of cotton during storage,and analyzed the risk of cotton combustion,and got the dangerous conditions of cotton storage.According to the existing cotton storage situation,the corresponding safety management suggestions and corrective measures are put forward,which also laid a foundation for cotton fire detection and recognition.
