Study On Structure And Innovation Design Of Gown From The Tomb Of The Mashan No1

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the structural characteristics,tailoring technology and cultural background of the Chu-style gown in the pre-Qin Dynasty and the Warring States,which is on basis of the gowns unearthed from the Tomb of the Mashan Nol.Through the methods of comparison,restoration and analysis,we summarized the structural characteristics of gown and made further innovative design so that it can be applied to Modern Fashion Design.Firstly,the paper made a simple introduction to the gown from the Tomb of the Mashan No1 and demonstrated the cultural background of gown,which made a preparation for following theoretical research.Secondly,after one most representative gown was selected,by organizing the data from report in archaeology,restoring picture and other means,we draw style chart,sketch lines and made a tentative restoration.Then,by simulating the height of the tomb owner to restore its dress form,and then scale the gown to observe closely costume structure and dress form.Finally,based on investigation in gown element of application state in the modern fashion design,the paper made some conclusions on its advantages and disadvantage and made a common-sense innovative design during design process,which can provide material for cultural heritage of Chinese traditional elements in Fashion Design,and give inspiration to Modern Chinese Fashion Design.
