To study combustion performance determination methods of textile based on cone calorimeter,launched from principles to sample preparation methods,from the test parameters to series of experiments on test method.Ignition time,performance of heat,flue and gas release in the process of burning with cone calorimeter had been analysised,and the conclusions drawn as following:1 The heat of combustion released from the common fabrics,such as cotton,wool and polyester in per gram oxygen consumed are in the range of?13.10±0.655?kJ/g?O2?.The cone calorimeter method is suitable for directly test of heat release of cotton,wool and polyester during burning.For the characters of thin,light and flammable,the test method of textiles requires deep-going research.2 In this four types of sample preparation methods,testing after simplely stacked,testing after sewing,testing with grid and testing with grid after sewing,testing with grid not only can control the change of surface morphology,burning accidental factors in the process of testing such as fly ash,but also has good repeatability.And the appropriate specifications of the grid type is 5×5 modle.3 Discussing stacked testing method that the thin sample commonly used,found the testing data of the thickness 0.87 mm which is three stacked layers shows a great stability,and the ignition time test less affected by autoignition time in this thickness.With the increase of thickness,the yield of heat,smoke and gas increase.For the analysis of the unit mass production,further gas composition analysis is required.4 The external heat flux has a greate influence on combustion performance of textiles,especialy carbon dioxide release rate.Under medium intensity of heat flux,the stability of textile combustion performance testing data is suitable for performance comparison.5 Compare cone calorimeter method with vertical burning method,the cone calorimeter method shows wide scope of use,more comprehensive and good repeatability of data.But the consistency of results by the two methods has been found in the damaged length and the maximum heat release rate.To sum up,the method of cone calorimeter used for textile combustion performance test is feasible.With the use of appropriate grid and medium radiation intensity,the control of proper stacked thickness,the better stability data can be obtained.It also have consistency with vertical burning test results to a certain extent.
