The use of polymeric materials in building , electronics or construction applications is steadily increasing. Therefore, the potential for these materials to be exposed to fire is also increased. Most polymers combusition characteristics are flammability, high heat release rate and flames spread quick etc . The understanding of the combustion characteristics of these materials can provide the method and technique for fire safe engineering design and fire endangers valuation. Understand the polymer catch fire with combustion characteristic, can design for a fire safe engineering, a fire endangers valuation to provide the method and technique, at physically applied aspect exertive important function. There are many standard tests used to evaluate combustion characteristics of polymer. Unfortunately, the correlation between these tests and real fire is less than desirable. A new bench-scale rate of heat release calorimeter utilizing the oxygen consumption principle has been developed for use in fire testing and research. By means of A new fire test apparatus, Cone Calorimeter, can accurately measured some combustion properties of polymeric materials. The combustion properties include the heat release rate, the mass loss rate, and the effective heat of combustion etc. Cone Calorimeter test range is 0~100kW/m~2, can imitate real fire environment. Specimens may be one side heated and tested under external environment. The correlation between Cone Calorimeter tests and real fire is desirable.Burning and decomposition behavior of 9 plastics were studied using the cone calorimeter and themogravimetric analysis. The parameters including ignition time, heat release rate , mass loss rate, effective heat of combustion were obtained and compared at different levels of incident heat fluxes and atmosphere. Heat transmission process be investigated at the same time, The results show that in the traditional heat analysis test(TG), with the heating rates raised, the velocity of polymer decomposition...
