Abrasive water jet(AWJ)cutting is an efficient,green processing method,because processing of objects and processes are unique,the technology is developing rapidly in recent years.Especially for brittle materials processing,showing the traditional processing methods can not match advantage.This paper has done the test of the abrasive waterjet cutting hard-brittle materials and the simulation of cutting process of brittle materials by individual abrasive particles,by contrast studies,this paper validates and improves the cutting mechanism of abrasive waterjet on brittle materials.On the base of abrasive water jet theory,this thesis studies cutting mechanism of abrasive waterjet on brittle materials.Cutting process of abrasive waterjet on brittle materials includes water wedge effect,abrasive particles impact,erosion effects and microfabrication function of the abrasive to machined surface.By orthogonal test,primary and secondary factors affecting abrasive water jet machining are water jet pressure?target distance and abrasive flow.The results of single factor test show:When water jet pressure increases,the depth of cut adds significantly in a certain range,however,the pressure continues to increase,Not significantly increase the depth of cut adds Obviously,When the target distance increases,the depth of cut increases first and then reduces;When the abrasive flow increases,the cutting depth increases and then decreases.The simulation of machining process with abrasive waterjet for brittle materials belongs to the high-speed processing,large deformation problem.The paper establishes coupled modeling by using smooth particle dynamics method(SPH)and the traditional finite element method(FEM),builds microscopic analysis model of the single abrasive particle erosion process,simulates single particle abrasive waterjet machining process for hard and brittle materials.By comparison with single abrasive particles penetrating analysis at different moments and results under different initial velocity conditions,cutting mechanism of abrasive Waterjet for brittle materials is researched and veried.Through influence of factors in univariate tests compare with simulation results,the error is very small,while the trends have better consistency,therefore,the accuracy of the simulation is verified.By experimental and simulation analysis of abrasive waterjet,this paper analyzes and researches cutting mechanism of abrasive waterjet for brittle materials from the viewpoints of both the macro and micro,summarizes the effect of processing and processing rule of the various process parameters on the abrasive water jet.As a result,this study provides references for optimizing process parameters of abrasive water jet machining.
