In Shangsi of Guangxi province a natural special mineral soils(OMS and MMS)are discovered,which are rich abundant and cheap-cost,and have unique properties of good thickening,bonding,stability,thixotropy,so it shows potential as printing paste replacing or partial replacing sodium alginate.First,the structure and basic properties of special mineral soils(OMS and MMS)are investigated,and basic properties of special mineral soils(OMS and MMS)are compared with sodium alginate in the article,which include thickening efficiency,storage stability,capacity of holding water and chemical compatibility with ammonium sulfate,citric acid,anti-dye S and disperse dye.The results showed that the special mineral soil(OMS and MMS)have good paste performance,good storage stability and good chemical compatibility.However,compared with sodium alginate(SA),the special mineral soils(OMS and MMS)have low thickening efficiency,and their capacity of holding water have to be improved.Among them,thickening efficiency and capacity of holding water of MMS are betterthan OMS.Secondly,the printing properties of special mineral soils(OMS and MMS)are researched,including surface color yield,color unevenness,pattern sharpness,fabric handle and color fastness.The results showed that the surface color yield of the special mineral soil are improved but still lower than SA,and pattern sharpness are bad when both anti-dye salt S and ammonium sulfate are determined to be 1%.When the dispersant NNO is added into the colorant,surface color yield are greatly improved,but pattern sharpness are still not good.increasing the solid rate of the paste can improve pattern sharpness to a certain extent,but it limits the improvement of the surface color yield.Both OMS and MMS can reach the level of sodium alginate about the fabric handle and color fastness.But in short,the overall printing effect of MMS is better than OMS,which has greater improvementFinally,the compound modification of MMS is carried out by high molecularmodifier such as carboxymethyl starch(CMS),carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)and sodium alginate(SA).and the effects of different ratio of paste on viscosity and printing performance were researched.The results show that the contribution rate of CMS to surface color yield is higher than that of CMC,SA,the contribution rate of CMC to thickening efficiency is higher than that of SA,CMS,the contribution rate of SA to pattern sharpness is higher than that of CMC,CMS.After the compound modification,in the surface color yield and the pattern sharpness,the compounded MMS of printing performance is far superior to the single MMS of printing performance,but there are still some gaps compared with SA.On the basis of the above,a self-made modifier D is prepared and the modification of D and MMS was carried out in different proportions.The results show that the best ratio of D to MMS is D: MMS = 2.25: 15,so when rate of D to MMS equals 2.25:15,the surface color and pattern sharpness of the compounded paste could reach the level of SA,and the color fastness and fabric handle are comparable to that of SA.The composite paste of D: MMS = 2.25: 15 is expected to replace or partly replace the SA.
