| Nowadays,countries around the world are protecting the environment through various international agreements,including the 'Kyoto Protocol'with tasks and codes of conduct for reducing greenhouse gas(GHG).South Korea also regards the environmental protection industry as one of the three major industries.'The industrialization and green growth of the export industry of the environmental protection industry' has been declared as a new national plan for Korea.Relevant countermeasures are being actively discussed and formulated.First of all,this study explores the various definitions of the environmental protection industry,analyzes the market conditions of the Korean environmental protection industry and the export competitiveness of environmental protection products,and proposes corresponding policies and measures.SWOT analysis is used in this thesis to analyze the status of the environmental protection industry market.Intenational Market Share(IMS),Trade Specialization Index(TSI)and Revealed Comparative Advantage(RCA)are used to analyze the export competitiveness of environmental protection products.Secondly,thanks to goverment's support of enviroment protection industry,Korea was able to create advanced environment technologies that are almost the same level as technologies in other developed countries,which is Korea's great success.In addition,inspections of the environmental protection industry's import and export have considerably increased during the last 10 years;IMS has steadily increased;the 2016 TSI has shown an increasing trend;RCA is doing a lot better than 10 years ago.Therefore,it is certain that the future of the international competitiveness of the Korean environmental industry will be brighter.In addition,this thesis proposes certain aspects that are considered necessary for the cultivation of environmental industries but have not been mentioned in government policies.First,at the national level,Korea must pay more attention to the prevention of ex ante precautions than to the ex post countermeasures in the environmental protection industry.In order to form the virtuous circle,In order to achieve the best environment protection,Korea needs sustainable policies that will regulate properly what is needed and all unnecessary regulations should be removed.Second,most of the companies in South Korea's environmental protection industry are small and medium-sized enterprises.Therefore,in order to expand the market,it is necessary to improve the tendering system.At the same time,it is necessary to cultivate private-public joint venture companies that will cooperate with private enterprises and government agencies to promote import and export.Third,in terms of export trade,which is the mainstay of the Korean economy,I think that in order to expand the profits of the environmental protection industry,there must be a variety of government support policies that must meet various requirements.Moreover,enterprises should actively enter the overseas market.In conclusion,the environment is very important for us,our survival depends on it.In this age of deteriorating climate,the development of environmental protection technologies and environmental protection industries is an important issue for humanity in order to protect and improve the environment.Therefore,the government,institutions and enterprises should show understanding and effort to help. |
