Analysis Of Environmental Protection On The International Competitiveness Of Industry

Both globalization of economy and globalization of environmental problem are enlarging.The relation between them becomes closer as well.The issues related to environment and trade,such as the influence of environment regulation on international competitiveness of industry(ICI),specialization of production,industrial relocation and patterns of trade,are drawing increasing attention from people.The major issues dealt with this thesis include the judgment of the relation of environmental regulation and international competitiveness of industry(ICI) and to find out what measure should Chinese related industries take in order to face stricter environment regulations.The paper chooses six representational industries as analysis objects,and based on the data from 1995 to 2006 to do correlation analysis and Granger causality test.This article found that the stricter environment regulation does course the fall of international competitiveness of industry(ICI).The article consists of six parts.Introduction is the first part focusing on research background,thesis structure,innovations and shortcomings.The second part is literature review which is divided into two aspects:the first one is theoretical research including conventional school and revisionist school,the former supports an adverse influence environmental regulations put on industrial international competitiveness, but the latter argues opposite opinion;the second aspect is empirical research review, focusing on validating theoretical research conclusions from there levels:country and enterprise and industry.Then is the third part,mainly analyzing deep reasons of environmental pollution from economics view and introducing concrete solutions of it. Not only introducing the theory of environmental regulation and international competitiveness of industry(ICI),but also their indicators,in order to supply steady theoretical basis for following specific research on these six industries.The following is the fourth part of the article which introduces the information of six industries and the situation of environmental protection in these six industries.The firth part chooses the representative indicators,and based on the data from 1995 to 2006 to do correlation analysis and Granger causality test.At last,this article introduces policy suggestions to the authority and enterprise respectively.
