The phthalocyanine blue 15,pigment yellow 150 and pigment red 146 were dispersed in water to form an pigment dyeing emulsion after coated by water borne polyurethane acrylate composite polymer.Pigments can be stably dispersed in water to form an emulsion without adding other emulsifiers or dispersants,because the waterborne polyurethane-acrylate polymer covered on the surface of pigments as a barrier.The pad dyeing process was facile and diluted emulsion was used to dyeing on the fabric by padding,drying and curing.The polyurethane-acrylate polymer has formed a film on the surface of the fabric yarn,and the pigment particles have been adhered to the fabric.The dyed fabric has good color fastness and levelness property.The optimal parameters in the pad dyeing process have been determined by varying the amount of binder colorant,drying time and temperature,curing time and temperature,the amount of crosslinking agent and penetrating agent according to the color yield and fabric handle.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)was used to observe the micro-morphology of fabric yarns including the distribution of pigment particles on the surface of fibers before and after pad dyeing.First,aqueous polyurethane-acrylate composite emulsion with difference core materials as phthalocyanine blue 15,pigment yellow 150,and pigment red 146 was used for pad pigment dyeing of cotton,polyester,and polyester-cotton blended woven fabrics,respectively.Analyzing the color fastness,color yield,and handle,the optimal parameters in the pad dyeing process were identified:2-dip-2-nip technique,nip pressure 3kg/cm~2,the pick-up of emulsion 60%for cotton,50%for polyester,70%for blended fabrics,the drying temperature 80?,the drying time 150s,the curing temperature 150?,the curing time 150s.The pigment dyeing composition comprised aziridine crosslinking XR-100 5.0g/L and colored waterborne polyurethane acrylate composite emulsion of formula for cotton,none aziridine crosslinking for polyester and blends.The dry rubbing fastness of dyed fabrics reached level 4,the wet rubbing fastness reached level 4-5,and the soaping fastness reached level 5.Then,colored aqueous polyurethane-acrylate hybrid emulsion adhesives have been used to pigment dyeing of fabrics according to the optimized parameters and formulation,and the performance of dyeing such as the color levelness,color fastness,and color yield have been assessed comparing with commercial adhesive GR-840,GR-930MS,and 8602.The results showed that the water-borne polyurethane-acrylate hybrid emulsion adhesive was for the pigment pad dyeing of woven fabrics such as cotton,polyester-cotton,and polyester with the best dyeing effect.Last,the phthalocyanine blue 15,pigment yellow 150 and pigment red 146coated by waterborne polyurethane-acrylate composite polymer were used to color matching for pigment dyeing of polyester-cotton blended fabrics under the optimum dyeing processing.By adjusting the amount of three different color binders of red,yellow and blue,dyed fabrics with different bright,hue and shade,soft touch handle,and rubbing and soaping fastness over level 4 can be obtained.The process could be applied to color matching dyeing of polyester cotton blended fabric in light/medium shade.
