Polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composite material is an excellent composite material with high strength and high elongation.It has extremely wide applications in aerospace and other fields as well as daily production and life.Through reasonable design and processing,composite materials can achieve even better performance than metal materials.However,in the actual application process,the composite material has many uncertain changes under the impact load such as explosion and high-speed impact,and is easily damaged,resulting in a decrease in its own performance.Therefore,it is very important for the research of composite materials under impact load.In this paper,polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composites were selected as the research object.The combination of experimental and simulation methods was used to study and analyze the performance of polypropylene fiber reinforced composites under projectile penetration.The main research contents include:(1)Polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composites were prepared by compression molding process,and the basic mechanical parameters of polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composite laminates were measured.The performance of the laminated laminates was analyzed and evaluated.Provide relevant material parameters for the finite element simulation penetration process.(2)The penetration test of polypropylene-based fiber reinforced composites was carried out by using spherical pellets.The energy absorbed by the unit surface density of the target and the energy absorption rate of the laminates were obtained when the projectile penetrated the laminate.The intrusion of the laminates was analyzed.Through the performance,the plywood after penetration was observed,and the relevant failure mode of the laminate under penetration was obtained.(3)The process of polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composite laminates with different penetration angles simulated by finite element software was simulated and compared with the results of penetration test.The results are in good agreement..The laminates with complex layup angles were simulated and the optimal angle of polypropylene-based glass fiber reinforced composites was obtained.
