An Empirical Study On The Relationship Between Economic Growth And Environmental Quality In Guangdong Province

The coordinated development of economic growth and environmental quality is an important direction for the economic transformation of Guangdong Province.The economic growth of a region is inevitably accompanied by an increase in pollutant emissions,which inevitably leads to environmental quality problems and increased investment in pollution control.Whether economic growth will only continue to lead to a decline in environmental quality,whether environmental management investment can effectively improve environmental quality,whether to reduce the burden of governance investment,how the economy and the environment can achieve a coordinated development,these are research economic growth.The practical significance of the relationship with environmental quality.First,the paper clarifies the basic concepts of economic growth and environmental quality,the theoretical concepts of their interrelationships,and the commonly used theoretical models and empirical methods.Use the latest data to analyze the economic and social conditions and environmental quality of Guangdong Province.Then,through the per capita GDP from 1995 to 2017 calculated according to the 1978 price as the indicator of economic growth,the emission data of industrial three wastes from 1995 to 2017 is selected,and the environmental quality is calculated by the formula and calculation steps of the TOPSIS comprehensive index method,using the EKC model to study the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality in Guangdong Province.Secondly,after discovering that the EKC model can only study the one-way influence relationship,in order to further study the two-way influence relationship between the two,predict and analyze the degree of mutual influence between the two,and establish a VAR model for research.It is predicted that in 2019,the contribution of 71.7% of environmental quality changes is the reason for its own change,and the contribution of 28.3% is the impact of economic growth,and the effect of economic growth at the expense of environmental quality is more The smaller it is.Thirdly,through the establishment of the coordination degree evaluation model,the coordination relationship between economic growth and environmental quality is studied,and the coordination state between the two is judged.The answer is based on the existing data,whether Guangdong Province is economically lagging or environmentally lagging.It is also a social state in which the economy and the environment are in harmony,and thus different policy recommendations are made.
