The Research Between Economic Growth And Environmental Quality In Hebei Province

Since the ninth five-year, economy has achieved rapid development and GDP per hasobtained constant growth in Hebei Province. In the industrial structure, the secondindustry accounts for the largest proportion and heavy industry is still the leading industry.With the rapid development of economy, the problem of environmental pollution isbecoming increasingly serious and the ecological environment is frail, such as, fog, sanddust weather occurs frequently. How to control environmental pollution, improveenvironmental quality and realize the coordinated development of economic andenvironmental benefits has become a hot issue for the government, the scholar, the public.the essay selects relevant data of Hebei Province’s1998-2012years of economic growthand environmental quality and establishes environmental kuznets curve (EKC) model.According to typical indexes representing economic growth and environmental quality,the essay analysis the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality inHebei Province applying the application of environmental kuznets curve (EKC) theory.At the very beginning, it introduces the relevant theories of investment and method.This essay introduces the environmental kuznets curve (EKC) theoretical connotation,common model and form of expression, the influence factors of the EKC origin. Inaddition, the essay states the basic ideas of the method of regression analysis, multipleregression model and stepwise regression method.In the next place, the essay analyses the economic growth of Hebei Province and thepresent situation of environmental quality. It analyses of the economic growth in Hebeiprovince from two aspects, the overall economic situation and industrial structure.Besides, it analyses the present situation of environmental quality from three aspects, thewater environment, air environment, solid waste emissions, ecological environment.Then, it selects six typical environmental quality indicators and the per capita GDP asindicators of economic growth in Hebei Province. Environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) isused to construct model. The simulation equation of per capita GDP and various indicatorsof environmental quality is calculate with simulation results and the fitting curve equation by using SPSS software. It was found that Industrial emissions and per capita GDPshowed the typical inverted U type, other environmental quality indicators of EKCshowed N type, inverted N type, monotone increasing type by analyzing the simulationresults.In the final part, based on EKC forms in Hebei Province, the essay establishes themultiple regression model by selecting the EKC genetic factors and environmental qualityindex. To further explore the causes of Hebei Province EKC, it adopts step-wise regressionmethod and puts forward suggestions on policies to improve the environmental qualityfrom four aspects, the scale, structure, technology, policy.
