In the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China’s economy has achieved rapid development with the world-famous China speed.However,with the rapid development of the economy,environmental problems have become increasingly prominent.Environmental pollution has become a major problem affecting people’s production,life and happiness.The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that "China’s economic development stage has shifted from high-speed growth to high-quality development stage".The high-quality development stage means no longer unilaterally pursuing GDP growth and more emphasis on the coordinated development of environment and economy.This paper studies the coordination of environmental quality and economic development in the three major economic zones: Pan-Pearl River Delta,the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Rim,aiming at comprehensively analyzing the coordination degree of environmental quality and economic development in this three major economic zones in China at present,and proposes to improve the environment.recommendations on improving coordination of environmental quality and economic development.Based on study of a large amount of domestic and foreign literature this paper starts with concept of environmental quality,economic development and coordination between the two,and elaboration on relevant theories.Then,combination of relevant literature and China’s actual situation,with environmental quality assessment index system with air pollution,water pollution,solid waste pollution,resource consumption and environmental governance as five main focus,and an evaluation system for economic development,focusing on economic growth,structure optimization and development quality.Afterwards,this paper adopts the projection pursuit model based on genetic algorithm optimization to evaluate the environmental quality of China’s three major economic zones from 2007 to 2016,the economic development model in Comprehensive Development Index Research to evaluate China’s economic development in 2007-2016.And the decoupling model to evaluate the coordination of environmental quality and economic development.In the end,this paper thoroughly analyzes the coordination degree of provincial environmental quality and economic development in each economic zone,from various perspective including space and time series distribution.and provide recommendations on coordinated development of environment and economy in these zones.According to the results of coordination analysis,among the three major economic zones from 2007-2016,the environmental quality and economic development of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone showed best coordination,followed by the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone,and than the Bohai Sea Economic Zone.They each experienced 5,4 and 3 years of,which is the most ideal state of environmental and economic relations.It means the environmental quality improves while economic develops.From the provincial dimension,Fujian and Yunnan showed the highest degree of coordination between environmental quality and economic development.Whereas,Hebei province showed the lowest degree.From the perspective of time series distribution,China’s economic regions experienced a cross-change in the coordination of environmental quality and economic development from 2007 to 2012.The coordination degree in 2012-2014 deteriorated and then recovered after 2015.2009 is the year when China’s economic development and environmental quality showed best coordination.In 2014,China’s environmental quality and economic development show worst coordination.
