Melamine resin has excellent properties and is one of the most widely used and lowest cost materials at present.Traditional melamine resin belongs to thermosetting resin,which can not be cured at room temperature.It needs to be heated from 130?to 150?before it can be cured.The curing speed is slow and the energy consumption is high.And the volatilization of organic solvents in the curing process is not conducive to environmental friendliness.These reasons limit the application of melamine resin in textile industry.With the rapid development of UV curing technology,some progress has been made in the field of fabric finishing.In this paper,UV curing technology is used to study the synthesis process of UV curing melamine resin,and it is applied in fabric coating to improve fabric properties,providing a new method for the application of melamine resin in textile coating finishing.In this paper,methyl etherified melamine resin(HMMM),hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA)and photoinitiator 1173 are selected as the main raw materials.The unsaturated C=C double bond is introduced into the methyl etherified melamine resin to increase the light curing property.Through the study of its synthesis process,a kind of melamine resin with light curing property,namely,amino acrylate(HEA-MF),is synthesized.The structure of the product is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and the thermal properties of the UV-cured melamine resin(UV-MF)film is characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TG).The physical properties such as wear resistance,water resistance and water absorption are tested.UV melamine resin coated fabrics are prepared by coating technology.The properties of coated fabrics are tested and compared with polyester and polyether UV curable polyurethane(PUA)coated fabrics.In order to improve the flexibility and waterproof and moisture permeability of UV melamine resin coated fabrics,the effects of three active diluents(FA2D,HD2EODA,TMP15EOTA)on the flexibility of coated fabrics are studied,and polyethylene glycol(PEG)is used as pore-forming agent to study the effects of different molecular weight PEG on the waterproof and moisture permeability of coated fabrics.The results show that:(1)it is feasible to modify HMMM by HEA with a reasonable synthesis process:the total reaction time is 5 h,the initial reaction time is 3 h with 80?,the later reaction time is 2h with 90?;the final performance of the product is the best when the amount of catalyst toluene-p-sulfonic acid is 0.2%;the storage stability of the product is the best when the amount of inhibitor p-hydroxyanisole is 0.3%.The prepared UV-MF film has a stable performance below 300?,fast weight loss at 350?,good heat resistance,long boiling time,good water resistance and abrasion resistance.It can improve the water resistance and abrasion resistance of coated fabrics.The very low water absorption of UV-MF film is also conducive to improving the water resistance of coated fabrics.(2)The breaking strength,wrinkle property,stiffness,wear resistance and pilling resistance of the fabric coated with UV-MF are improved obviously,but the breaking elongation,drapability and flexibility of the fabric are poor.The hydrostatic pressure of the fabric coated with UV-MF is over 18 kPa,and after 100 times of scrubbing,the hydrostatic pressure is still higher than the standard value,which has outstanding waterproof performance and can be used for waterproof fabric.However,the moisture permeability and air permeability of the fabrics decreased sharply.Compared with two kinds of UV curable polyurethane coated fabrics,it can be seen that the strength of UV-MF coated fabrics is slightly lower than that of polyester PUA,higher than that of polyether PUA,and the elongation at break is lower than that of two kinds of PUA coated fabrics;the wrinkle resistance of UV-MF coated fabrics is better,but the toughness of fabrics is not as good as that of PUA coated fabrics;the waterproof property of UV-MF coated fabrics is close to that of PUA,It is slightly lower than polyether PUA coated fabric,but slightly better than polyester PUA coated fabric.(3)The active diluent FA2D has the best toughening effect and the best improvement on the softness of coated fabrics.With the increase of FA2D dosage,the softness of coated fabrics increases gradually.When FA2D dosage is 20%,the comprehensive properties of coated fabrics are better.Although the strength of coated fabrics decreases by about 60 N,the wear rate of fabrics decreases by only 0.3%,the elongation at break increases to 10.47%.The bending length is improved the most,and the fabric softness is improved when the bending length is reduced to less than 9 cm.When the molecular weight of PEG is 400 and the dosage is 5%,the moisture permeability of the coated fabric is the best.The moisture permeability of the coated fabric is close to 1000 g/(m~2·24h),which is 237%higher than that of the original293 g/(m~2·24h),and the hydrostatic pressure is over 16 kPa,which is higher than the minimum requirement of 13.7 kPa of waterproof products in the US military standard.It meets the requirements of waterproof fabric.The air permeability of the coated fabric is also about 20 times of the original one,which greatly improves the air permeability of the coated fabric.
