The tailings pond is a place for dam interception valleys or enclosures to store metal and non-metallic tailings for ore sorting and exclude tailings.It is a dangerous source of artificial debris flow with potential high energy,which becomes a potential risk for mining enterprises.Currently,tailings inventory;in China is large without consistent of management and assessment of environmental risk.It will therefore seriously affect the healthy and sustainable development of mining industry in China.Tailings ponds are a huge sources of environmental risks.However,a present,China has not formed a complete,unified,convenient and rapid environmental risk assessment system for tailings ponds,is not yet proposed and applied in China.Restricted by the geomorphology in the Yangtze River,a number of tailing ponds in different types are concentrated in a limited area,which contains more complex environmental risks due to the type of the tailings pond 's minerals,geographic location,and water area.However the environmental risk assessment of mine-intensive areas is not yet conducted.In this study,the basic situation and environmental risks of tailings ponds in Shangrao City were first investigated.An environmental risks of tailings pond was further established.A regional tailings pond environmental risk assessment model was then established and used for exploration of the mining ponds in the study area.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The environmental risk assessment indicators for a single tailings pond was simplified.According to the analysis of environmental risk cases of tailings ponds,field investigations,expert discussions and literature references,chromatographic analysis was conducted to select and to re-weight the environmental risk factors of tailings ponds for establishing a single tailings pond environment risk assessment indicators.(2)An environmental risk assessment model for a single tailings pond was established.Based on the "Technical Guidelines for Tailing Reservoir Environmental Risk Assessment(Trial)",analytic hierarchy process and homogenization treatment,the tailing pond environmental risk assessment model of the leveling method by analogy analysis was established.(3)An environmental risk assessment model for areas with concentrated tailings ponds was established.Based on extension theory,extension theory,extension logic,and matter-element theory,the matter-element set was established.The classic domain matrix,the nodal domain matrix and the to-be-evaluated matter-element matrix were determined.Correlation of each index was calculated using the correlation function.The comprehensive correlation degree of regional tailings pond environmental risk assessment was calculated.An extension model of regional tailings pond environmental risk assessment was established.
