In this thesis, five new Schiff base ligands were synthesized from the reactions of o-vanillin and 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde with different diamines. These Schiff base ligands were characterized by 1H NMR spectra.Nine lanthanide complexes in five series were synthesized from the reactions of these Schiff base ligands and metal salts, including a one-dimensional chain-like coordination polymer[Sm?HL1?2?NO3?]n?1?,two mono-nuclear lanthanide complexes[Ln L2?HL2?]?Ln=Sm?2?,La?3??,three tetra-nuclear Cd-Ln complexes[Cd2Ln2?L3?2?OAc?2?OH?4?CH3OH?2]?Ln=Yb?4?,Nd?5?,La?6??,two tetra-nuclear Cd-Ln complexes[Cd2Ln2?L4?2?OAc?4?OH?4]?Ln=Nd?7?,Dy?8??,and one tetra-nuclear lanthanide complex[Nd4?L5?4?OH?4?DMF?2]?9?.Their single crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffractometry.Meanwhile, they were characterized by XRD powder diffraction,TGA and UV-vis absorption spectrum.Their luminescence properties,as well as the luminescent response of coordination polymer 1 and complexes 7,were investigated. The results indicate that,1 exhibits both ligand-and lanthanide-centered fluorescent response to metal ions, especially to Co2+with high sensitivity.Meanwhile,7 shows interesting luminescent sensing phenomenon to anions and nitro explosives, especially to H2PO4-and 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene?PA? at ppm level.
