With the advent of global economic integration, the contradiction between international trade and environmental pollution is prominent. With China's accession to the WTO in 2001 and the proposal of the strategy of strengthening the country through trade, the policy of reform and opening up has been continuously deepened, and China's import and export trade has developed rapidly. However, the rapid development of trade has led to a lot of consumption of resources and energy, which has resulted in the aggravation of environmental pollution. The frequent occurrence of global warming and haze makes the government and the public pay more attention to environmental prevention and control than ever before. Therefore,it is very important to coordinate the balance between trade and environment.Based on the perspective of carbon emissions, this paper considers the impact of import and export trade on environmental pollution.First of all, based on the literature analysis and related theoretical research at home and abroad, this paper combs the mechanism of the impact of import and export trade on environmental pollution;secondly, from the regional perspective, measuring the carbon emissions of each province, and using the Panel Smooth Transition Regression model(PSTR)to analyze the economic threshold effect of import and export trade on environmental pollution;thirdly, from the industrial perspective, based on the global multi-regional noncompetitive investment in the Input-Output Table,we fully consider the difference of intermediate input coefficient and carbon emission coefficient between different industries, calculate and analyze the trade implied carbon emission of various industries in China, and analyze the technology threshold effect of import and export trade on trade implied pollution by PSTR model. The existing research results show that: from the regional point of view, with the level of economic development as the transfer variable, the export trade and import trade both have the double threshold characteristics of carbon dioxide emissions. The positive promoting effect of export trade on carbon dioxide emissions in China is weakened with the improvement of economic development level;the promoting effect of import trade on carbon dioxide emissions is first weakened and then slightly strengthened with the improvement of economic level. From the perspective of industry, agriculture and energy industry are gradually changing from trade implied carbon deficit to trade implied carbon surplus, and other industries are in the state of trade implied carbon deficit,in which heavy manufacturing industry is far ahead in both export trade implied carbon emissions and import implied carbon emissions, and shows a growth trend.Further research shows that with the technology level as the transfer variable, the scale of import and export trade has a significant single threshold feature on trade implied carbon emissions, and the low technology level makes the trade scale continue to strengthen the role of promoting trade implied carbon emissions. Therefore,it is very important to introduce clean equipment and technology, improve production technology and improve energy utilization.
