Research On The Reconstruction Design Of University Library Based On The Theory Of Openness To Public

This paper aims to give a comprehensive account of how the concept of openness influences the reconstruction design of university libraries.The development of university libraries has a long-term progress,from the close shelf to the open one,from the open shelf to openness,gradually toward social openness,participation and interactivity.Especially the network,information and electronic technology have made the university libraries to use different ways or methods to reconstruct and expand the traditional reading space and made it more important to have an open design of interior function,space and external envi ronment.On the influence of the reconstruction and expansion design of university libraries under the concept of openness,this paper makes a comprehensive analysis and discussion with six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter introduces the characteristics of the development of university libraries in China and the general condition about their reconstruction and expansion.It is pointed out that reconstruction for university libraries was inevitable and “openness” is the intrinsic attribute of a university library.At the same time,the research object,range,method and system is defined by the study of related theorized both domestic and overseas.The second chapter illustrates the motivation and the design mode of reconstruction and extension for university libraries through the examination of specific cases.The third chapter pinpoints the nature of “openness” by analyzing the various modes of information transmission and the high efficiency in transmission.Furthermore,it sums up their service management mode,internal function and the open characteristics of space.The fourth chapter is about the internal function optimization of reconstruction design under the concept of openness.This chapter mainly discusses the university libraries’ optimization design for internal function from three perspectives: the function update of the old libraries,the openness of functions and the integration of functional organization.The fifth chapter talks about the reconstruction design of interior space under the concept of openness from three aspects: the restore and the utilization of traditional space in old libraries,the creation of the open space and the infiltration of multipl ex space.And it also discusses and sums up the reading space design mode under the concept of openness.The sixth chapter concerns the integration of external environments under the concept of openness.There are three aspects being discussed: the integration of the old buildings,the integration with the outside environment,and the open design of the surrounding environment.And it also discusses the practice of the project of Hunan University library’s extension design.
