Research On Contemporary University Library Design Based On Porosity Concept

Chinese classical gardens have begun to increase the profound sense of landscape by using spatial layers,and create more abundant landscape effects and spatial feelings in limited sites.In the field of contemporary architecture,the penetration and opening of space and its integration with the environment have further aroused architects’ attention.Steven Hall abstracted and condensed it and put forward the concept of "porosity".Alvar Aalto,Portzamparc and other famous modern architects have also made relevant explorations in the field of architectural practice.The concept of "porosity" has rich connotation and practical guiding significance.Based on phenomenological theory,it redefines the proposition of "space" at the conceptual level.Externally,it reflects on the external environment and the spirit of place,focusing on the relationship between architecture,landscape and city.Internally,it focuses on the infiltration of multiple Spaces and people’s behavior and experience in space.On this perspective,this paper explores the specific techniques and strategies of space creation under the guidance of the concept of porosity,and applies them to the design to complete the interpretation and exploration of the concept of "porosity" architecture.Firstly,the concept evolution of porosity architecture are sorted out through literature collection and comparative analysis,and the design methods of porosity architecture strategy in the overall external space layout,internal space organization and facade design are summarized.In the process of searching for the building type that fits with it,it is found that the problems existing in the design of contemporary university library need to be solved by the concept of "porosity".Contemporary libraries are gradually showing the characteristics of people-centered,Openness,freedom and pluralistic integration have become the development trend of Libraries in the future.At the same time,as the core building of colleges and universities,the university library has gradually developed into a comprehensive space integrating campus learning and scientific research center,information media center and cultural exhibition center.The change of orientation brings new demands on library space from three aspects: the tolerance of crowd behavior,the compound of function organization and the infiltration of space level.Starting with the construction of indoor and outdoor space,the organization of functional streamline and the digestion of spatial interface,this paper puts forward the space construction strategy to adapt to the development of contemporary university library.In the research design part,the author took Tianjin Foreign Studies University library as an example,through the building’s openness to the environment,reorganization of function and environment,the shaping of three-dimensional roaming path,rich relationship of sight line,to create "campus diversity center" for the campus crowd open type library space,so as to verify and improve the design strategy.
