In the operation of power grid,voltage is related to the stability of the power grid and the quality of power.Appropriate voltage level can reduce the loss of the grid,improve the economic benefit of power grid,and maintain the stability of the power system.Essentially,the problem of voltage control is the reactive power control,namely reactive power distribution and optimization.The AVC(Automatic Voltage Control)system is one of important means to improve the level of voltage of power grid.Now,the increasingly powerful computer monitoring system provides a good platform for the AVC system.Especially,with the application of network technology,computer technology,communication technology,automation control,it is possible for the entire grid to realize automatic voltage control.At first,this paper introduces the basic principle of reactive power balance,the characteristics of reactive power,the kinds of reactive power and the basic method of voltage control;expounds the different characteristics of power plant and substation on voltage control and control measures;analyzes the different characteristics of manual control and automatic control,local control and remote control of hydro-plant for voltage.Secondly,the current hydro-plant adopts the structure and function of computer monitoring and control system have been discussed.Take jiangya hydro-plant as example to illustrate the typical hydro-plant monitoring system advantage,aspect deserving to improve,future development trend in the actual application.By the computer monitoring system reconstraction,this paper proposes the AVC application.Then,according to the practical application of AVC system in Jiangya hydraulic power plant,this paper analyzes the structure,the hardware composition,the control mode,other technologies of AVC system and discusses the automatic voltage control method in the grid.Through the process of sampling,the control mode,the determination and distribution of obejective reactive power,the process of execution of the AVC system,and its communication,parameters setting and closure conditions,this paper details the process of province dispatcher and AVC system,the possible problems in actual operation and relevant solutions are put forward.Finally,the test of AVC system proves that the AVC system can meet the requirement of Hunan power grid and can be put into operation.In this paper,the related parameters and experience is produced at the scene of the Jiangya hydraulic power plant,which contributes to the comprehensive AVC control for Hunan power grid.
