With the growth of China's economy and urbanization,public transportation system is playing a key role in people's daily life,and the demand for more convenience and comfort during riding process is increasing.Currently,the competition between Chinese bus makers becomes fierce with focus on costs/performance.Compared with foreign bus,Chinese bus has chassis with higher height,which is not convenient for people to get on and off bus in peak hours when crowds are waiting at bus stations.The paper is a study on low floor bus front axle and supporting axle on which function of low floor bus front axle with steering knuckle is to bear the force from road to bus frame or body and to make low chassis successful application on bus.Firstly,this paper detailedly introduces backgrounds of generating low floor bus front axle and supporting axle,which includes above existing issues for Chinese bus passengers,bus development tendency in China and abroad,axle makers' efforts to catch up with bus development and analysis for potential opportunities in axle market,and Chinese and foreign bus configuration with exampling classic bus models.Secondly,this paper identifies design target,design proposal and core engineering difficulties for low floor bus front axle and supporting axle through market investigation ard axle benchmarking model.Thirdly,based on.the design principle,this paper describes calculation process for.design,3D model creating process,FEA process which is based on axle actual service condition,and calibration process for different service conditions.So this part guarantees accuracy and reliability of theoretic design process.Meanwhile,based on product development procedure,this paper provides engineering drawings of parts and components of axle assembly,engineering requirements,process engineering documents and assembly engineering documents.Finally,market test to small quantity of end-users.In conclusion,this paper is to design a leading product in the industry.It contains a complete product design process which includes product design,manufacturing and validation with sufficient information.In the part for designing part and component,not only theoretic calculation but also CAE analysis is used to do comparison analysis and two-way validation.As a result,the conclusion of this paper is more accurate and reliable and the paper provides great guidance in axle obverse design.More information is provided in the following parts.
