In recent years,with the rapid development of social economy,people than ever before to speed up the pace of life,the larger changes in the way of life,many old buildings in the city because of the slow to adapt to the modern life gradually faded out of the line of sight of people.And as people to the attention of the culture of traditional architecture and renewing and reconstruction of old buildings,old buildings and retrofit is retained in the process of urban development,has become a trend,is an important strategy of sustainable development in the construction field in 21st century.The old architecture reconstruction,if grasp its characteristic,is equivalent to giving a new life.Research for the modification of the old buildings in China at an early stage,due to the particularity of the old architectural history and culture,the spatial functions in reforming the distribution of the historical and cultural heritage on the fusion of many problems and deficiencies,such as secondary functional division is not reasonable,lack of cultural and historical inheritance,etc.Therefore,find a new idea and solution,looking for appropriate USES for historical buildings,make its transformation in the space to be more perfect and mature,achieve the miscibility between the old and the new space,meet the diversification on the function,respect history context inheritance,is the current social remolding old buildings and retained the hot issues.In this paper,through the study of the theoretical knowledge of the old building and systematic understanding,through the analysis of the status quo at home and abroad to study and draw lessons from excellent cases,understanding the trend of the old building reconstruction,and existing in China about the old building is not appropriate.The basic part of mature theoretical basis and practical experience for reference analysis,combing,thinking and summarized,combined with their own ideas summing up the basic principles of the old building.Old buildings transformation of two universities in our country existing case analysis,comparison and research,so as to gain experience and theoretical knowledge.And old arts building site in northwest normal university,the green square retrofit scheme as instance,validation research,to further explore the retained and transformation of old buildings,so as to search the new train of thought of the old building.For old building renovation accumulated valuable experience.
