A Study On The Environmental Protection And Renewal Of Architecture And Surroundings During The Republic Of China In Nanjing Xiaguan Riverside Historical District

The buildings and its surrounding environment during the period of the Republic of China in Nanjing Xiaguan Riverside Historical Scenery District were gradually developed after the first Opium war of 1840.It is the result of collision and integration between Chinese traditional culture and western modern civilization.It is the representative of modern culture in Nanjing and the representatives of commercial buildings in the Republic of China.However,with the decline of the water transportation mode and the development of Nanjing’s urban economy,the port and external transportation functions in the area of Xiaguan have declined.The original commercial and industrial functions in the historic area have gradually disappeared.Its links with the port and the riverside are becoming weaker and weaker.In 2013,the Nanjing Municipal Planning Bureau put forward the planning goals of “overall protection”,“environmental improvement”,and “improvement of value”.To show the city culture and enhance the value of the districtThe first part of this article starts with the protection theory,protection methods and protection models of historical and cultural heritage at home and abroad,after that,it analyzes the historical background and current situation of the architecture and its surrounding environment during the period of the Republic of China in Xiaguan Riverside Historical District,and finds out the problems that need to be dealt with in the process of protection and renewal.The second part of the paper focuses on the issues raised in the first part,and specifically covers the building of the Republic of China’s architecture and its surrounding environment in the historical district of Xiaguan Riverside,Nanjing,from the whole to the local;and proposes protection from the study of building monomers to the surrounding environment of the building.With updated strategy.Finally,based on the study of the architecture and its surrounding environment in the period of protection and renewal of the Republic of China in Xiaguan Riverside District,we will further consider the protection of cultural relics and historic sites in Nanjing.
