The Orization Of Architectural Technology And Inheritance Of Xiangshan Bang Technique(1400�1950)

The thesis aims to apply the theory of "theorization of technology"to study the theoretic issues of Xiangshan Bang architectural technology from the early Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China in order to provide ideas for the modern inheritance of Xiangshan Bang techniques.The author believes that the theorization of Xiangshan Bang architectural technology has undergone a process of textualization,mathematics,physics,standardization,and disciplinaryization.In the late Qing and early Republican period,when Yao Chengzu,the famous craftsman of Xiangshan Bang,became a teacher at the Suzhou Industrial College,he compiled a teaching handout Ying Zao Fa Yuan,which marks the initial completion of the modern transformation of Xiangshan Bang techniques.Ying Zao Fa Yuan is the only collection of Xiangshan Bang.Compared to the traditional architectural technology of Jiangnan,Xiangshan Bang architectural technology contained in the book has distinctive characteristics in the concept and category,measurement and pricing,practices and other aspects.In the process of text generation,Ying Zao Fa Yuan is due to Zi Ye Yi Shu,Yao Chengzu's construction practices and Zhang Zhigang's finishing reforms.Their uses of proportional relationships,geometric methods and modern physics have spanned the threshold of tradition and modernity and explained the mathematics and physics of Xiangshan Bang architectural technology.Moreover,in the long-term construction practice,the craftsmen of Xiangshan have summarized a set of technical standards concerning building materials,employment and construction costs,which was once regarded as a standard by the carpentry industry in Suzhou.In addition,the inheritance of Xiangshan Bang techniques ranges from the traditional teacher-preacher teaching and preaching to the transfer of teaching and learning between modern teachers and students.The completion of this transformation is attributed to the Suzhou Industrial College's preparation for the architectural profession and Yao Chengzu's arrival at the Sugong podium as a professor of China's construction law.It is from this time that Xiangshan Bang technical inheritance has had a specialized school,discipline and unified teaching material.Therefore,Zhang Zhigang's newly-added version of Ying Zao Fa Yuan is also a process of Xiangshan Bang architectural technology into a discipline.If we say that Zi Ye Yi Shu makes the inheritance of Xiangshan Bang techniques with text support,then Ying Zao Fa Yuan as a teaching material makes this technical text a gorgeous transformation from traditional to modern.So far,the theorization of Xiangshan Bang architectural technology has tended to be mature.
