The self-tightened metal U-shaped sealing ring(ST-MUSR)is widely used in aerospace and other fields for its advantages of high sealing pressure,simple structure and good damping effect,but less research has been done.In this paper,the structural integrity,leakage and vibration performance of ST-MUSR with good sealing effect and strong anti vibration capacity are studied systematically.A numerical analysis model for the mechanical properties of ST-MUSR is established.The distribution and characteristics of the internal stress and contact pressure of the seal ring under pretightening and operating conditions are analyzed respectively.And compared with other typical autofrettage metal seal rings.Finally,the effects of operating parameters and structural parameters on the mechanical properties are analyzed.The structure of U-shape seal ring with better mechanical properties under different parameters is obtained.A leakage analysis model suitable for ST-MUSR is established.The factors that affect the leakage rate of the seal are obtained.The influence of operation and structural parameters on the sealing ring is analyzed from the perspective of leakage performance,and the influence of various parameters on leakage rate is obtained.Based on the leakage analysis model,the design method of the sealing ring is established and compared with the PVRC method.The example shows that the design method is accurate and effective.A modal analysis and dynamic response analysis models of ST-MUSR are established,and the vibration characteristics of the sealing ring are analyzed.The influence of operating parameters and structural parameters on the vibration performance is obtained.Under the condition of the same load,the deformation amplitude of the seal ring is far greater than the flange deformation amplitude,and the response is faster than the flange,which can ensure the reliability of the seal under the vibration condition.Increasing internal support structure can effectively improve the anti vibration effect of the structure.A self compacting metal U seal ring and several other typical self-tightened metal sealing rings have been set up.The mechanical properties,leakage and vibration characteristics of different self-tightened metal seal rings are verified by experiments.Under the same conditions,the leakage rate of ST-MUSR is lower,and it has better compressibility,pretension,self-tightened effect,smaller stiffness and larger compression rebound.The influence of pressure on leakage rate is verified,and the deformation amplitude of metal U seal ring is more stable after being subjected to variable load.The research results of the improved mechanical properties,leakage and vibration resistance of the improved U metal seal can guide the design or operation of the static seal structure under special conditions such as high pressure,low temperature and vibration.They can also provide some research foundation for the promotion and application of other new self tightening metal static seals.
