The Research On Spatial Morphology And Protection Strategy Of Yundou Ancient Town

Yundou ancient town is at hinterland of Qinba mountain area,southwest of Shiquan county of Ankang city.The climate of Yundou belongs to North subsropical monsoon climate.As a representative traditional town at Hanjiang basin,Yundou has diversity environment characteristics,with advantageous land communication,which is also an important commercial type town located at “Chuanchu commercial way”.At 2014,Yundou has been approved as one of the sixth historical and cultural town in China.The texture,surrounding environment,streets systems and local building characteristics of Yundou all present profound background of history and regional cultural.However,along with its development,many problems emerged,i.e.lack of feature,as induced by insufficient essential research about develop law and so on.One of the crucial problems is the scarce recognition of nature of town,especially the law of spatial form.Spatial form is an important carrier to investigate the law of settles development.Thus,the lack of understanding on the spatial form results in misleading on Yundou’s development.In total,this thesis combined theories with practices,based on essential theory of spatial form,performed spot investigation and analyzed the inertial mechanism of spatial form and space structure,further systematically researched characteristics of spatial form of Yundou ancient town.In this study,we proposed a hierarchy research approach firstly.The spatial form of Yundou town was divided to three parts: the integral space at macro scale,the internal space of town at middle scale,and the architectural space at micro scale.Additionally,the deep investigation about these parts at different scale was explored and connected with each other.Firstly,to the macro scale,we discussed the integral spatial characteristics from “point”,“line”,and “surface”,combined with factors and elements of spatial form,as well as connection between ancient town and environment around;secondly,to the middle scale,we analyzed the factors affected internal space,including elements of street space,functionality of space,spatial form,and distribution characteristics of building group;lastly,to the micro scale,the combination mode,vertical surface shape characteristics and building construction were studied,the key examples of which were land mapped and quantitatively researched.According to the systematically analysis with deeply investigating of essential characteristics of spatial form of Yundou town,we draw the conclusions on relationships and interactive mechanisms between each hierarchy.At last,based on theatrical research and land mapping,we suggested the protection on spatial form of Yundou town should be performed at different level,simultaneously,it is necessary to protect the hierarchy relationship the systematically.
