With the development of new-type urbanization,there are many complex and special building structures nowadays.It is very difficult to monitor and manage these buildings especially during their operation stage.When structures are under extreme loading such as strong earthquakes or winds,structural members could fail in buckling or yielding.Thus it is so important to manage them with a proper method.BIM(Building Information Modeling)is state-of-the-art technology in the field of real-time data collection and visualization.BIM can serve an ideal 4-dimensional graphical computing environment for integration structural health monitoring(SHM)with management practice,which often involves considerable amounts of sensor data of different modalities and changes of structural condition over time.This research presents a method of structural safe early-warning management in integrated BIM-SHM environment.The method proposed can minimize the injuries for people in catastrophic events.In the past,ad hoc SHM systems with custom developed virtual user interface have been built for a variety of projects.However,the incompatibilities in user interface,data format,and computing environment in many current(mostly custom built)SHM software applications make it difficult if not impossible for most users to take advantage of the full set of resources available for SHM.A novel framework is presented that explains the method of streaming data from positioning sensors to a real-time data visualization platform.It thus offers us benefits such as increased situational awareness to workers,equipment operators,or decision makers anywhere on a construction project or from a remote location.The method of visualized early-warning management in integrated BIM-SHM environment is studied,which can rapidly identify the spot where the station has been warned and the corresponding structural element in the BIM model would be highlighted to provide alert signal to engineers and decision makers.BIM software programs are available on the market for which the proposed framework can be equally well applied,Revit Structure and Visual Studio 2015 are selected in this research to demonstrate the proposed technology and C# is the programming language.The method of early-warning information management based on database in integrated BIM-SHM environment is also studied.BIM database was developed in SQL Server 2008 in this research.The BIM database includes database tables for vital information about civil infrastructures' operating condition.Mobile Application has been designed using iPhone.By using designed application,site supervisor can easily monitor the real time sensor data.The mobile client interface and function is designed,which can improve the portability and interoperability of early warning management.A case study of large span spatial steel structure located in China Wuhan is presented to illustrate the different aspects of the sensor-driven SHM system integrated into the BIM environment.A prototype structure model was developed using Revit Structures software to illustrate sensor data storage and display,photorealistic visualization,information management,and structural condition assessment integrated in 3D visual setting.This case study validate and evaluate the performance characteristics of the BIM based EWFM in a real structure setting such as demonstrating its capability of quickly locating and visualizing the strain in the selected members.
