This paper focused on the strategy of migrant families in urban area in how to choose the housing location based on the consideration of education quality.Education resource is distributed by the choices of community where families live with children.In this way parents are able to choose where to l ive to meet their education demand.At the same time,there are many other targets in this process families have to meet,including public services like healthcare and police,location characters like bus stations and housing amenties.Eventually,every fa mily have to balance their weights on each attribute on account of different background such as education level,races,income and family structure.And this process results in heterogeneity in the choice of community location out of the pursuit of higher labor market accomplishment and education target.In this sense,the research focused on the particular group of migrant families and their housing choice.Furthermore the mechanism behind the process were tested in detail.The field research focused on Nangang district in Harbin which is the largest central district in the city.Initially questionnaires were designed in full factorial orthogonal approach and latter classified into blocks for interviewees who are assumed to be rational ideally to make the right choice.After collecting data,conditional logit model was applied to analyses and eventually results are: migrant families place higher weights on education when choosing housing location and commuting accessibility,housing amenities and families in the same like also work.When the samples were classified by income quintiles,differences in preference appears positively as the income changes higher.The paper further found that family structure,income,migrant background and expected return were st rongly associated with diversified weight placed on the education following by analytics on mechanism of the heterogeneity.
