Urban Regeneration And Identity Preservation Of Traditional Villages And Towns In New-Town Development Of Dongqianhu Town,Ningbo City

Urban regeneration is an important concept in modern urban construction and development,which in the practices is carried out through detailed regulatory plans,detailed construction plans,and urban design guidelines.Urban regeneration itself has not yet formed a complete system and is facing the difficulties of supervision,regulation and execution.Dongqianhu Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Zhejiang province to which the site of this urban design project is adjacent.The site contains the major part of traditional Dongqianhu old town,East and West historical streets,the core part of Dongqianhu New town and the scenic area of the lake.It is facing multiple challenges: the regeneration of the old town center,the expansion of the new tourist city center,the protection of lake,and the preservation of the historical streets.This thesis is based on the main perspective of regeneration,combined with the rapid urbanization in China,scenic area protection,historical street preservation,etc.to further discuss urban regeneration and identity preservation of traditional villages and towns in the new-town's development,implementation and policy of urban regeneration guidelines and detailed regeneration guidelines for the local site.This thesis first analyzes the history and cases of urban regeneration in America and Europe from the 1940 s,and summarizes major theories during this period,thus constructing the urban regeneration guideline system.Based on this,the thesis further analyzes the current situation of the site with three perspectives: the morphological preservation of local fabric,the ecological protection of the natural corridors and public spaces with local identity.Finally the discussion reaches an urban regeneration des ign guideline for Dongqianhu Town and a master plan of urban regeneration design is proposed.
