China's cities are in a critical period of transformation and development. The renovation and renovation of urban central areas, centered on the intensive use of existing land, has become the theme of urban development in the context of new urbanization.Historic urban areas are usually located at the center of the city.Under the dual constraints of limited road network capacity and prioritization of historic features, transportation supply and demand cannot reach steady-state equilibrium.Studying the method of comprehensive utilization of road network resources in historic urban areas, alleviating imbalances in traffic supply and demand, improving traffic efficiency, and achieving a people-centered development concept are of great significance to the sustainable and integrated development of historic urban areas and traffic. The dissertation focuses on the spatial outreach of historic urban areas. It analyzes the characteristics of space and land use, traffic characteristics, and road network resource utilization characteristics, and coordinates the development model of traffic construction and style protection, dual supply and demand, and "Car-centered" put forward the direction of traffic development in historic urban areas in three aspects of the transformation of "human-based".Taking the dual control of supply and demand as the starting point, from the point of view of integration of public transportation and slow transportation,it is recommended to build a multi-modal,integrated,transit-optimized transport service system and a traffic development model that creates a slow and friendly transportation environment. At the organizational level of transportation, different transportation organization strategies are proposed. In the aspect of road network resource allocation, the optimization of road network system based on traffic flow with different characteristics, the use of road and network facilities for bus and slow-moving roads, and the planning and design strategy for the transition from road to street are proposed. It analyzes the supply requirements of road network facilities under the road network resource utilization strategy in historic urban areas, and constructs a road traffic facility allocation system, analyzes the relationship between motor vehicle corridors, bus corridors and road networks, and proposes a road network organization system based on the separation of traffic routes..In the aspect of road network resource allocation, the key points for designing the redistribution of road space in historic urban areas were proposed, and the conditions for the setting up of bus lanes in historic urban areas were analyzed. The time-space redistribution of bus lanes and space redistribution methods for public transportation stations were studied.Based on the concept of public transportation priority and slow-paced friendship development,a method for improving the functional structure of roads in the historic urban area and the road classification configuration system were proposed.Through the definition of road and road network system, analyze the road use characteristics. On the basis of analysis of street roadway protection elements and functional positioning, the functions of roadway and road network were excavated. From the point of view of road network density and layout, the implementation conditions of the micro-circulation road network in historic urban areas and the choice of micro-circulation organization mode were studied.Through the analysis of street roadway traffic functions, its function integration method and hierarchical configuration system are proposed.Taking the streets in the historic urban area as the main goal from the street space where people and vehicles are harmoniously coexisting, the principle of shared street planning and design is proposed, and the design methods of shared streets in historic urban areas are studied in terms of traffic calming and speed control.Taking the ancient city of Suzhou as an example, the spatial and land use characteristics, traffic trip characteristics, and road network resource utilization characteristics were analyzed. The strategy for the utilization of the ancient city road network resources in Suzhou was proposed, and the historic urban road network resource utilization method was used as an example.
